Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
