The disputed, US and Israel-backed Gaza relief foundation declares it is winding down its aid operations in the affected area, after almost six months.

The foundation had previously halted its three food distribution sites in Gaza following the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel was implemented six weeks ago.

The organization attempted to circumvent United Nations channels as the main supplier of relief to Palestinian residents.

International relief agencies refused to co-operate with its system, claiming it was improper and dangerous.

Many residents were lost their lives while trying to acquire nourishment amid disorderly situations near GHF's sites, primarily from Israeli forces, based on UN documentation.

Israeli authorities stated its soldiers fired warning shots.

Mission Completion

The GHF said on Monday that it was winding down operations now because of the "satisfactory fulfillment of its emergency mission", with a aggregate of 3 million parcels containing the amounting to in excess of 187 million sustenance units distributed to Gazans.

The GHF's executive director, Jon Acree, also said the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Centre (CMCC) - which has been set up to help execute the American administration's Gaza initiative - would be "adopting and expanding the approach the organization demonstrated".

"GHF's model, in which militant groups were prevented from misappropriating relief supplies, played a huge role in bringing Palestinian factions to negotiations and establishing a truce."

Feedback and Statements

Hamas - which denies stealing aid - supported the shutdown of the GHF, according to reports.

An official from stated the organization should be made responsible for the damage it inflicted to Gazans.

"We request all international human rights organisations to make certain that consequences are faced after leading to casualties and wounds of numerous Palestinians and concealing the food deprivation strategy employed by the Israeli authorities."

Organization Timeline

The organization commenced activities in Gaza on late May, a seven days following Israel had partially eased a complete restriction on humanitarian and trade shipments to Gaza that lasted 11 weeks and led to substantial deficiencies of essential supplies.

Subsequently, a famine was declared in the Gaza metropolitan area.

The foundation's nourishment distribution centers in the southern and middle regions of Gaza were operated by United States-based protection companies and situated within areas controlled by Israeli forces.

Aid Organization Objections

United Nations agencies and their collaborators stated the system breached the fundamental humanitarian principles of non-partisanship, even-handedness and self-determination, and that channelling desperate people into military-controlled areas was inherently unsafe.

United Nations human rights division stated it documented the deaths of a minimum of 859 residents attempting to obtain nourishment in the vicinity of GHF sites between 26 May and 31 July.

Another 514 people were killed near the routes of UN and other aid convoys, it added.

The majority of these individuals were fatally wounded by the Israeli forces, based on the agency's reports.

Contrasting Reports

The Israeli military said its soldiers had fired warning shots at persons who advanced toward them in a "threatening" fashion.

The GHF said there were no shooting events at the distribution centers and accused the UN of using "untrue and confusing" data from the Gazan medical department controlled by militant factions.

Future Implications

The foundation's prospects had been indefinite since Hamas and Israel agreed a truce agreement to carry out the initial stage of the American administration's peace initiative.

It said relief provision would take place "absent meddling from the both sides through the United Nations and its agencies, and the humanitarian medical organization, in addition to other global organizations not associated in any manner" with Palestinian factions and Israeli authorities.

United Nations representative the UN spokesman stated recently that the organization's termination would have "zero effect" on its work "as we never partnered with them".

The official further mentioned that while increased relief was entering the region since the truce was implemented on early October, it was "inadequate to meet all the needs" of the over two million inhabitants.
