Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.
The team did not mention Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
