Netflix Selects Perfect Actor for Bon Clay in One Piece Season 3
The Secret Organization is set to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t take place until the third season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.
The platform declared this week that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bon Clay. This character possesses the power to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag queen, in the live-action show, unlike the source material and animated series.
The new cast member will work alongside multiple fresh additions tasked with bringing the organization to reality, including chief Sir Crocodile, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the cast as the ruler of the fictional land.
Though this character is a major member of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering the next season set to cover the Little Garden segment, this represents a major departure in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate additional alterations to the story’s structure.
Their mix of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the role. Besides their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for creating and performing in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is set to return for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
