More than 50 lone young refugees who disappeared shortly after arriving the UK and while under the supervision of the authorities are yet to be found, according to information obtained.

Many of the vanished youths arrived in small boats or stowed away in the rear compartments of trucks and are believed to have been abducted by smugglers. A specific county is frequently the location where they first land.

Official Data Reveals Alarming Statistics

Freedom of information information has registered 345 children disappearing from their area, with 56 of those still missing.

From 2021 and 2023, when two hotels for children were run along with similar establishments in other areas, 132 children went missing from those two hotels. Among them, 108 were later found but 24 are remain unaccounted for.

Between 2020 and August 2025, 213 children went missing from care facilities for these minors, with 182 found and 32 still missing.

Nationality Breakdown of Vanished Minors

In the two scenarios, minors from Albania were the largest group to vanish, making up a full half the total from the hotels, 68, and over 25% from the welcome hubs, 65.

The next most common nationalities to have disappeared from the two settings are individuals from Afghanistan then Iranian nationals.
