President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Military Soldiers to White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Devastating Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president addressed journalists. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Response

Community members came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to assist policing efforts in the capital.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the individual that instructors desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to help others.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Policy Revisions

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The incident prompted the government to suspend asylum processing and cease granting visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey stated on a news program.

Attorney general the attorney general stated on the program that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with distinction, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” the governor told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
