Vince Zampella, the mind behind the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in the state of California he was 55 years old.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The celebrated video game developer died after his car crashed and burst into flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on this past Sunday, according to.
